Introduction to Offshore Renewable Energy Systems
Offshore Renewable Energy Systems research group carries out research and innovation at the highest level in the world. The core research is focused on renewable energy conversion, storage, and distribution systems used in offshore. This ranges from system component level to the top level- Systems of Systems. The research field is highly interdisciplinary and normally requires expertise in mechanical, structural, fluid mechanics, electrical, electronics, control, optimization and data processing.
The following are examples of research topics within the research group:
- Modeling and system identification of floating offshore wind turbines
- Control and active damping of floating wind turbine structures
- Structural health monitoring of wind turbines
- Modeling and control of offshore wind farms
- Fault tolerant control of offshore wind farms
- Fault detection and isolation in offshore wind turbine pitch systems
- Control and stability of ship-board DC-microgrids
- Sizing and optimization of fuel-cell and battery for marine power generation
- Energy management systems and power management systems of DC-microgrids used for marine power generation
