PV Diagnostic imaging Laboratory

The state-of-the-art PV diagnostic imaging laboratory is capable of full characterization and failure diagnostics of crystalline silicon and thing film solar PV panels, of up to 1x2 m sizes. Invisible solar panel faults, such as cracked solar cells, aged or degraded solar cell, or faults in the electrical circuit of the solar cells, are detectable using electroluminescent and IR thermographic imaging techniques.

Post processing these images enables failure quantification, such as size, number and position of cell cracks or other failures, which are useful for evaluating solar panel state-of-health, in relation to panel stress events: manufacturing/lamination, installation, transportation, or operation in the field

The PV diagnostic imaging laboratory is also equipped with an aerial drone platform, which support research and development for fast and accurate PV plant inspection, within the www.dronel.eu IFD project.
