Initiatives

• Installation of new window in Pon. 105/4.113.
• New extra coat racks for the group rooms in Pon101 and Pon105.
• New power plugs will be installed by the sofas and chairs in Pon111. 
• New toaster in the kitchen in Pon105.

Initiatives

1. Installation of Quooker tap in Pon. 103/1.105.
2.  Cupboards with wheels have been inserted in the group rooms in Pon105 after requests from students.
3.  New panini iron in Pon101.
4.  New coffee machine in the student kitchen in Pon105. 
5. The volume of air in room 4.113, Pon105 has been raised by 50 %.
6.  Pon103: The study environment has been upgraded with new tables, sofas, lamps in the student kitchen, and glass boards. 
7.  Pull-up bar installed in Pon105.

Udfordringer

1. Dårlig akustik i grupperum på Kroghstræde 5
2. Ønske om bedre udnyttelse af gangareal i Pon105 og flere studiearbejdspladser.
3.  Ønske om lydisoleret boks.
4.  Ønske om vandautomat og reoler til grupperum i Pon105.

Opfølgning

1.  Installation af lydisolerende loft i Kroghstræde 5.
2.  Kassemøblementet i gangareal i Pon105 er fjernet og erstattet med studiearbejdspladser. Derudover er der også indkøbt møbler til studiearbejdspladser i Pon111.
3. Der er indkøbt lydisoleret boks, som er placeret i fællesareal i Pon101.
4.  Vandautomat er installeret og reoler indkøbt til grupperum i Pon105.

Derudover er der indsat mikroovn, toastjern og elkedel i studenterkøkkenet i Kroghstræde 5.

Challenges

A lack of social events due to Corona. 

Follow-up

The specially allocated funds for social events were used on:

• A study trip for the 5th semester.
• Lunch for 9th semester.
• A christmas party for all the students in the department held December 2021.
• A study trip for students on the 7th semester.
• Dinner for students for 5th semester.
• Smørrebrød for the students for the poster party in Aalborg and for the international students in Esbjerg.
• A two-day study trip to Skallerup Klit for the students on the 3rd semester. 
• A christmas dish for the students who participated in the CES conference. 
• Sandwiches for the semester start meeting for students on the 3rd semester. 
• Treats for the students in the department's semester group meetings. 

In addition, the department has acquired a Quooker water tap in Pon. 105.

Challenges

1. Several students have reported challenges regarding lack of access to labs, loneliness and a hampered social life and others as a result of the Corona crisis.
2. Continued challenges with the indoor climate in Badehusvej, Aalborg.

Follow-up

1. The study board has discussed the students' feedback regarding their study life during the Corona crisis with a view to utilise this feedback to the further development of e-learning at the department.
2. The first year of study in Aalborg will move from Badehusvej to campus in 2022.

Challenges

1. Group rooms on Fibigerstræde 2P, Kroghstræde 6 and Fibigerstræde 15: Problems with noise, small rooms, bland aesthetics, etc.
2. Group rooms on Badehusvej: Challenges with indoor climate and high temperatures.
3. More social activities across groups and study programmes and better integration of the international students.

Follow-up

1. Since the students will be moving out of these two addresses from the fall semester 2019, the Department has decided not to initiate any changes to these buildings. This decision is also based on an assessment that the students' criticism does not call for immediate action. However, the Study Board of Energy will monitor whether the students' assessment of the physical study environment improves in future evaluations as a result of the move.
2. Campus Service will examine the ventilation system and assess capacity in mid-2019.
3. The Study Board has formed a committee to help facilitate more social activities among students.

Challenges

1. Aalborg: Chairs in group rooms.
2. Technical and educational challenges with video conference.
3. Esbjerg: A lot of noise in group rooms because many students are gathered in large rooms.

Follow-up

1. The study programmes on Pontoppidanstræde will be given priority with about 275 chairs. Pontoppidanstræde 105 will receive 68 chairs by September 2018 and Pontoppidanstræde 101 will receive the remaining chairs when they have completed the renovation.
2. There are new guidelines for video conferences at the Faculty of Engineering and Science. This means that a number of minimum requirements have now been set for teaching staff using video conferencing. Moreover, the Study Board of Energy has forwarded material to the teaching staff to help them address the educational challenges.
3. In collaboration with Campus Service, the Department has divided and shielded off the rooms, so that groups do not disturb each other as much.
