Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most transformative technologies of our time, capturing the attention of diverse sectors across the globe. This is why at AAU Energy Research Day 2025 we aim to shine a spotlight on the intersection of AI and the energy sector.
Our popular research and development event this year will explore the extent to which AI has been integrated into energy systems. Key questions we aim to address include: How widespread is the use of AI in the energy sector? To what extent is AI utilized in optimizing energy processes and improving efficiency?
Pros and cons of machine learning and AI
There are risks associated with AI deployment in the energy sector. At our network event you can also take a deep dive into some of the potential pitfalls of the AI wave in engineering. There are also ethical and security concerns we need to address. There may be hesitations and reluctance within the industry to embrace AI, and understanding these concerns is crucial for informed and balanced progress.
Keynote speakers
One of the core themes of this conference is the dual role of AI in energy consumption and sustainability. AI is a powerful tool for enhancing energy efficiency, and driving innovations that can lead to more sustainable energy practices. From smart grids to predictive maintenance and optimized energy distribution, AI's applications offer significant potential for energy savings as well as higher energy stability and quality of service.
Extreme power use
The development, training, and operation of especially generative AI systems require enormous amounts of electricity, and this duality presents a unique challenge.
AAU Energy’s goal with the Research Day 2025 is to provide a platform for leading researchers, industry professionals, and stakeholders in Denmark to engage in dialogue and try to solve the issues. Through collaborative discussions and events throughout the day, we hope to uncover innovative approaches.
Join us in Aalborg for this years theme “AI for Energy - Energy for AI”.
